Soak up the history and wonderful architecture of the world famous Cambridge University. Have a coffee in front of Kings College, or picnic on the backs. Then follow in the footsteps of some of Cambridge's most famous alumni and take a ride along to the Orchard tea room at Grantchester for a slice of cake and a cup of tea.
The equestrian takes you in to the world of the highly prized thoroughbred. Newmarket is considered the centre of British Horse racing and is home to the Jockey Club. Visit the horse racing museum and have a bite in the cafe, or head on over the Gallops in to the rolling Suffolk countryside. Picturesque villages provide a back drop to quite country lanes and are home to some excellent pubs.
The Fen Way makes use of the excellent Lodes Way route to take in the edge of the fens, ideal for those who are adverse to fighting gravity! On route you can stop at Anglesey Abbey for lunch or at Wicken Fen, both owned by the National trust. There's plenty to look at on route and you'll have the continual open skyline that is so typical of the fens.
